Avalanche Skills Training Level 1
The AST 1 and 2 follow curriculum developed by the Avalanche Canada, a world leader in avalanche safety and training. Upon completion of each course, you will receive a certificate from the Avalanche Canada. These courses are pre-requisites for the Canadian Avalanche Association Industry training programs.
Courses are available most weekends throughout the winter and are offered anywhere from Calgary to Revelstoke.
This 2 day course is an introduction to avalanche safety. At the end of the course you will have a basic understanding of the following concepts.
- Avalanche Terrain
- Formation and Nature of Avalanches
- Companion Rescue
- Understanding avalanche bulletins
- Safe travel
- Trip planning
- Avaluator
Price: $225/person, based on a minimum of six people
Includes: instruction, course materials, certificate
Does not include: equipment, accommodation, transportation
